Preview, review, and undo
Cleaning a library is nerve-wracking when one wrong click could erase memories. Every SnapAtlas™ operation is previewable, staged, and logged.
1. Rehearse with What-If mode
Before any operation that moves files, turn on What-If mode in the toolbar. Every operation then shows you exactly what would happen — the planned changes land in the Activity tab — without touching a single byte. When the plan looks right, turn What-If off and run it again for real.
2. Review staged deletions
Photos marked for removal go to a Files to Delete folder first — not the Recycle Bin, not the void. Look them over; restore a mistake with one click. Click Verify before the final step: it confirms a matching copy still exists in your library, and any file without one stays put, flagged for review instead of deleted.
3. Check the Activity tab
Everything SnapAtlas™ does is recorded — what changed, where, and when. "Wait, what did it just do?" is always one tab away. The Activity log is also the first thing to include if you ever need to contact support.
4. Know what's already protected
- Sources are never touched. Import and Sync copy files in; originals are never modified or deleted. HEIC conversion keeps the originals in a
HEIC CONVERTEDfolder. - Automatic catalog backups. The library database — everything SnapAtlas™ has learned about your photos — is backed up automatically before operations run.
- Runs on your PC. Your photos are never uploaded. The only data that leaves the machine is GPS coordinates sent to our mapping service when you ask for place names.
5. Keep your own backup habit
SnapAtlas™ is built to be careful, but any large reorganization deserves a backup — keep one before a library-wide pass and clean up with total peace of mind. You can always start on a single folder and grow confidence first.
